Sustainability
WHAT SUSTAINABILITY
MEANS TO US
Sustainability is not optional at Blendcor. We see sustainability as a driver of innovation that enables us to stay competitive and cost-efficient while meeting our environmental commitments.
For us, it’s not just the right thing to do, it’s also a smart business decision. We’ve set an ambitious target to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, and we’ve developed a clear four-phase roadmap to get there. Over the next 3–5 years, we aim to move from a defensive to an “offensive” position (proactively driving new efficiencies and innovations to secure long-term environmental and business benefits).
WHAT WE’VE ACHIEVED
Blendcor has already taken several important steps to reduce carbon emissions at the plant. We’ve transitioned forklift trucks to solar and electric power, improved boiler efficiency with a downsized and optimized system (resulting in more than 13% in fuel savings) and upgraded key systems to use less energy. Solar lighting has also been installed at the tank farm and gantry.
In addition, we’ve achieved more than 2% in gas usage savings. These efforts are helping us lower our carbon footprint while making our operations more energy-efficient and sustainable.
LOOKING AHEAD
We’re still moving forward! Upcoming projects include expanding solar lighting across the warehouse, gantry, and yard, and installing energy-efficient lighting and motion sensors throughout the site to further reduce energy use. We’re also enhancing our measurement systems with advanced electricity, water, and steam meters to better track and manage resource consumption. A major solar project is currently in progress, projected to deliver 20% in on-site savings over the next 20 years while providing clean, renewable energy. These upgrades form part of our broader focus areas: energy optimization, emissions reduction, and smart resource management.
